How crystals can help you lose weight

Among all of the methods for weight loss, you cannot ignore exercise and eating clean and watching your portion sizes. I personally have become addicted to working out, I have a routine, every morning I get up before the sun and get my workout done before I start my day. When I skip it, I can feel it. I am grumpy, and I just don’t feel myself. This doesn’t include my weekly rest day (which is also important.)

 

We need to care for our physical body like that, but there are other factors at play, and we are more than our physical bodies. We are also made up of our emotions our mind and our spirit. We are made of measurable and unmeasurable energy, and if we ignore that and only focus on the physical aspect of our workouts and food, we may not be successful in the long run. Weight loss is attainable, but without looking at yourself as a whole, it may not be sustainable.

 

There are many other ways to nurture your energy body as a part of the whole, and one way is to work with crystals.

 

How Crystals help~

 

Imbalances in the energetic body can manifest as excess weight and a general state of imbalance (physically, mentally and emotionally.) By taking care of potential problems before they hit your physical body, we can ward off dis-ease even before it manifests in your body.

Crystal placement on and around your body supports health (thus a healthy weight) by the principle of entrainment; energy of a stronger and higher frequency will dominate a similar frequency of a lower and more unstable amplitude.  As humans, we are highly influenced by frequencies, especially stable frequencies (like crystals,) we are highly responsive to the effects of crystals.

Crystals and stones/minerals emit frequencies that don’t vary significantly, they are stable transmitters, and geometrically perfect. When they are placed within our close environment, they entrain us to meet their perfect vibrations. This varies with the the frequencies and other properties of the carefully chosen stone.

Humans are easily knocked out of balance by the stresses of everyday life while crystals remain steady.  Since our bodies act as receivers, our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual systems are constantly tuning into our environment. I don’t know about you, but when I look around at the general environment, I can’t help but notice how chaotic it can seem. Modern life holds many stresses and challenges that can affect our weight as well as our general health and well being.

 

Crystal healing entrains us to carefully chosen frequencies of the crystals, leaving us relaxed, rejuvenated and balanced.

 

 

Top 3 ways to work with crystals for weight loss.

 

I have been asked many times, “how do you ‘work with ‘ crystals?” besides having them in bowls around the house looking pretty. In addition to having a session with Crystal Healer, there are simple ways to invite their energies into your life.

 

**Wearing them~~ 

I will suggest choosing one of the crystals that appeals to you (or two) and wearing them, you can buy “cages” to place them in so you can wear them around your neck, as well as wearing them in jewelry or in your pocket, even tucked in your bra. The smaller the crystal is, it is more important to wear it closer to your body so you can entrain to the vibration and properties of the chosen crystal.

 

You can also make a ‘mojo bag’ where you combine crystals and other materials such as herbs, slips of paper with an intention written on it in a small bag that you carry with you on your body, or even sleep with it under your pillow.

 

**Crystal Grids~~

A crystal grid is a formation of crystals aligned in a pattern that matches your intention. Most often powerfully following sacred geometrical shapes such as the Octahetron, Tetrahedron, Dodecahedron, Icosohedron, and also sacred formations like the Spiral, Circle, the Lemniscate and the Tree of Life. Grids can be made over any symbol with a meaning like Reiki symbols and symbols that have personal meaning to you.

 

You can create a crystal grid by placing crystals in a pattern aligned with the points and connecting areas in your chosen shapes. Crystal energy can be amplified when placed in a sacred pattern.

 

When I make a grid,  I make my crystal choices based on the intention and effects I am looking for.

**Gem Elixirs~~

 

A gem elixir is similar to homeopathic medicine and flower essences. The energetic imprint of the mineral is communicated to the water and able to be administered by mouth (see these toxic stone warnings) topically, or sprayed into the air. The essence of the minerals treat our energetic and emotional bodies.

 

An elixir is relatively easy to make, first you have to decide on your intention, then choose your crystals, and again, you will need to consult a good list of the crystals that are toxic to be taken internally, and of course avoid those. You also need to be aware of which crystals are safe to be placed in water. Crystals that are too soft, or crumbly will not be good or safe to use in an elixir, you can look up their hardness here. Anything below a 5 in the Mohs hardness scale is best not to be used.

How do I choose which crystal to work with~

 

There is an abundance of material written about the known properties of crystals, you can consult the books. I personally like to see which crystals I am drawn to and meditate with it, sleep with it under my pillow, wear it in my pocket, and then after I have my own feel for it then I will look it up to compare.

 

Another way to choose a crystal is by color. In many instances, weight loss is an imbalance in one of your chakras. In relation to weight loss the ROOT chakra would be our connectedness to the earth and our physical body. The SACRAL chakra would be our physical energy and our metabolism and creative energy. The SOLAR PLEXUS chakra is our self esteem and confidence. Our HEART chakra would have to do with the self-love and forgiveness we need to have to forge a healthy relationship with our bodies. The THROAT chakra would be about speaking our truth, sometimes when we “stuff” our words we will tend to overeat to compensate emotionally. Our THIRD EYE chakra would help us have the wisdom to be able to see our patterns and how it is affecting us in our goals. The CROWN chakra is our connectedness with spirit and our true nature, divine wisdom.

 

 

General Crystals that are good for Weight Loss~

 

Bloodstone~ is a great purifier and detoxifier, it really cleanses the auric field and it’s important to start there when making concrete physical changes. Once it is clear in the energetic bodies, that translates to the physical level.  One of the predominant qualities in Bloodstone is courage and determination. This is very helpful when looking at making profound changes, especially when it requires self discipline because Bloodstone also helps with determination. Bloodstone will help you keep on your path even when it is hard.

 

Sodalite~ will help you recognize patterns and have insight into them so you can work with them, and in the case of weight loss, this is important.  Many times we are so unaware of even being stuck in a pattern rather we are a product of our habits. Sodalite also helps you assess your strengths and weaknesses. It is a stone of spiritual awareness, and this is important when stepping on any path like the path to a healthier body/mind and spirit.

 

Clear Calcite~  helps to amplify and “ground” your intentions into the physical world, or the ideas of losing the weight into the physical reality of the weight loss. Clear Calcite will remove energetic blockages and dissolve stagnant and dense energy. In my experience, all of the Calcites are a health tonic to the body and will balance the metabolism.

 

Red Calcite~ Robert Simmons in the ‘Book of Stones’ calls Red Calcite a stone of ‘soft vitality,’ meaning that energizes and brings in additional life force energy into the root chakra in a “soft” way that is very easy to accept. Red Calcite also regulates hormones and is great for weight gain associated with changing hormones such as at menopause and after having a baby. 

 

Orange Calcite~ is especially great to bring energy and motivation, it also helps you break free from old ways (such as poor eating habits.) It is also great for balancing hormones as well as great for the metabolism and the digestive system.

 

Apatite~ helps control the desire to overeat, helps to keep you from eating when you’re not hungry (calming the “appetite.”) It also helps in accessing the karmic reasons for the current situation. If there is an issue with weight, it will help you to see the spiritual origin.

 

Clear Quartz~ is a great amplifier and transmitter and it’s chemical structure is so connected with our physical bodies that it is natural to include it in all grids, elixirs and combined with other crystals you would like to amplify.

 

 

Stones to help with Emotional Eating and Body Image~

 

 Lepidolite~ is one of the best stones to reach for when dealing with stress and anxiety. It calms stress and that general anxious feeling. 

It is helpful for those suffering from depression and it enhances a healthy sense of well being. It is extremely relaxing and soothing, much better to reach for at the end of a hard day than takeout and ice cream.

 

Rose Quartz~ will boost all feelings of love, especially love for yourself.  It is good for compassion and forgiveness. It is really important to be gentle and loving with yourself when dealing with body image issues. Rose Quartz can help you love your body just the way it is and that is key to being able to make healthy changes. If you try to change without first accepting where you are, it is not sustainable.

How do you “work with” a crystal?

I know I am always giving out information about the properties of different crystals and what they can do for you. In fact there is a ton of information out there about any crystal you are curious about and you might even have a drawer full of pretty rocks that you have no idea what to do with (and some you don’t even remember what they are.) Is this you? How exactly does one “work with” crystals?

The smaller the stone the more important it is to have it touching your skin. I really like these “cages” that you can slip a crystal inside of and put it on a chain of varying length. If you want to hide it then it can hang under your clothes right on your skin. This is a good way to entrain to the frequency of the crystal.

 

Then you could sit quietly (meditate, if you will) with the crystal on your body or in your hands. That is a great way to connect with the specific properties of your crystal. I really like to do this with a crystal I know nothing about and then collect the information uninfluenced by other material. Then it is fun and useful to look up and see how other people have worked with it.

 

You can also make a Gem Elixir, and it is important to follow cautions because some crystals are toxic if taken internally. A Gem Elixir is the energetic imprint of the crystal and it’s properties and it is excellent to work with the non-physical body, the aura and it’s many layers. Illness and dis-ease originates outside of the body and gets established in the energy body before it even hits your physical body so Gem Elixirs are excellent for that. Crystal Grids are crystal layouts in a pattern over a sacred geometrical shape or symbol. Each grid has it’s own energy field and through intention you can work with anything (manifestation, health, love, you name it!) This is an example of a crystal grid. Sleeping with your crystals is a wonderful way to really hear the message it has for you as well as soak up it’s properties and frequencies. I urge you to keep a dream journal by your bed and write down your dreams(even fragments) and review them each night before bed. I do this and keep a log of which crystal and then write the dream.

 

Those are a few of many ways to work with your crystals.

 

 

 

My challenge for you:

Choose one crystal and decide you will work with it (and only that one) for a period of a few days to a week. Wear it, sleep with it and meditate with it. Don’t read about it, just soak up your own intuitive feelings and “hits” and write everything down. I especially challenge you to start a dream journal. I get so much from mine. Once your intense period of working with it is done then look in books and compare your impressions to others’ experiences.

I need YOUR help to adopt a sugar free life

So, I have spoken before about being on a journey to better body image and relationship with food. I am already adept and in love with working out. I have my own groove, and that is not at all an issue. My issue is with food. What I take in to my body.

I am thinking about giving up all sugar.

I opened a conversation on Facebook about sugar, and a general call for support on eliminating sugar from my diet to see how I feel. I am 99% ready to do that… but what is that little part of me that is keeping me from being 100%? I find that Facebook is an amazing tool for amassing support (both giving and receiving) I thank my many friends for stepping forward. Wouldn’t you like to come by and friend me to join in on the supportive vibe?

Eliminating sugar and “white things” is the best practice. Another friend suggested giving up caffeine, sugar, gluten among other things and basing my diet around veggies and almonds (I could definitely do that) Oh! when she mentioned dates, she had me because to mindfully eat a date has got to be one of the most sensual things.

I don’t consider myself a sugar junkie, but… am I? I know how to eat well. I am very learned on what a good diet it and can advise other people all day. I can see the issues other people are having and how said issues are affected by the diet, but, I can’t seem to get it right for myself.

sugar, sugar, sugar, salt and creamy. Food porn and satisfying myself through comfort foods. THIS is why I am packing an extra 20 still.

Weight Watchers is a tool for awareness, and it also could set up an obsession (for me) I have joined the online group, and will try a meeting to see if face to face support will help. I am still giving it a go, a good, honest effort. I can eat whatever I want, no pre-planned menu. It is the management of the wants though, that is the challenge.

When I am drinking my gem elixir-infused water (red and orange calcite, and sunstone to help me love myself,) I feel lighter and on point. Part of that is the vibrations of the crystals, part of it is the awareness and intention.

When I record my daily habits, I become aware, and it allows me to learn.

What I am missing though is the acceptance. Huh? Acceptance of how I am now. There is no need to change, and why am I waiting to do certain things until I lose the weight? There is no need to wait.

The Water of Life~How what we drink makes us beautiful.

One of the best and easiest ways we can affect our health and beauty is by paying attention to what we are drinking. Even before watching what we put in our bodies in the form of food, we can witness startling changes by switching out the unhealthy drinks for the healthy ones.

I am the last one to want to give up my morning coffee, and I won’t at this time, BUT I don’t have to drink it into the afternoon, and I could easily swap the embarrassingly more than occasional soda for some fruit juice and spritzer, or better yet, water.

I could swap out tap water for filtered or spring water, the list goes on.

Green tea is a good pick me up, it is also filled with antioxidants and other goodness that helps with fertility, weight control (belly fat,) colds, and the list could go on.

Chicory root and chaga (which is a fungus that grows on trees) are both good coffee substitutes, even brewed like coffee, as is dandelion root. The side benefit is that they are all spectacular for your liver! Coffee in large quantity is not. (Coffee will also dehydrate you, I try to drink a glass of water for every cup of coffee I take in.)

If you crave the fizzy, sparkling water from certain regions is full of trace minerals, check the source of your water and make sure it is genuine. Those bottles for sale in some convenience stores that just say ‘Drinking water’ is so suspect as it could easily just be tap water at a premium price (not to mention that all bottled water is packaged in plastic. Look for glass, or get a filter.

I’m going to mention gem elixirs again, and flower essences. Once you’ve determined the one you are going to use, place a couple of drops in your beverage (preferably water, but not always water) You could add them to foods, juices, fizzy mineral water…

The key is not in how MUCH of it you consume, but how OFTEN you consume it. I like to do so with regularity. When I am using an elixir or essence for a certain reason, I will take 3 or 4 (or more) times a day, and not only a lot of it, but only once.

Before you tackle food issues, be easy on yourself and watch what you drink.

(and as for alcohol, I do so in moderation. Maybe occasionally a little more than I should have, but not often.) My norm is to abstain from alcohol, but I am not a teetotaler, it’s fun to imbibe on occasion. I am all about being easy on yourself. Smart, but forgiving. This is not an excuse to go out on a bender, if you are drinking alcohol in excess, it is something to look at. That’s another subject for another day :)

What are you drinking? what you are (or aren’t drinking can affect your sleep, weight, cause dark circles under your eyes, make you look haggard and tired, affect your body in ways that we couldn’t even guess. We can’t live without water, but many people only get water as a base in their coffee, or soda.

How to fall in love with yourself! (another port in the weight loss journey)

True change and transformation can only take place once you accept the way things are *now* as if they are never going to change. For me, it is my new and “improved” plusher body. I put ‘improved’ in quotes because a part of myself is still striving to be there. Part of my recovery from self loathing (which is what it is to hate on your own body) is to write about it here and to offer support to others who are in similar situations. We can gain ideas and share our inspirations with one another.

On top of all of the “techniques” and “programs” you can choose to align yourself with to achieve your desired end, there is still you. Don’t forget about your own tenderness, your beauty (just the way you are.)

25 pounds is not going to make me a better person. I already am a good person, and I am striving to be a better and more compassionate one. I can list the qualities that I love in myself, and add to it as I notice a new and inspired way I choose to be.

I like to hand write these things in my journal. I also like to refer back to them often and add to the list as I remember new things.

The Sunstone gem elixir is really helping me to feel happier with my self (in my own skin) The Calcites help too, and have worked wonders with this cold (moving prana and increasing energy)

My friend recently reminded me of flower essences (look in the comments here.) She also inspired me to look at the process of losing weight differently. Losing density, to achieve enlightenment. I have been having dense feelings, moods, life situations, etc. I have also been evolving spiritually, but a protective mechanism has been packing on the pounds, maybe I am afraid of my own enlightenment.

Love is one of the most searched for things on the internet, along with losing weight. My challenge to you is to really look at, and love yourself.  Then (this is thr tricky part) it is to love yourself enough that you are able to show yourself to another person, in your entirety. This means that I walk naked around my house again, with the shades pulled, hehe. But to increase intimacy with my significant other by showing myself, relaxing and not even holding my stomache in, just letting it be. If I am not accepted for who I am, I am not being accepted anyways, and am living a lie.

It takes courage, but I’m up for it.

 

I am ready to fall in love, being in love is a wonderful feeling, I want to feel it regardless of my outside situation.

It’s Full Moon Time Again!! June 2012

Today our big, juicy moon is so full of herself! Can you see her? 

She wants to be seen, this fertile and powerful moon, wants to be honored. and honor her I will.

What kinds of things do you like to do when the moon is full?  One of the things I like about it is that I can see outside all night long, no matter where you go (unless it’s cloudy) there is a glow that allows you to see.

I also like that I can see it from my bedroom window. Sometimes when I am not sleeping well I look out and realize why. I seem to need less sleep during this phase of the moon.

When the moon is full, there is so much magic and power afoot. I usually plan things based on where the moon is phased. During the new moon, when it is very dark, I plant seeds (literally or figuratively,) or start projects.

I follow those projects through to manifest in some way on the full moon, or if they are not ready yet to manifest, I harness the moon’s power to add energy to the project I am working on.

A lot of people were excited about last month’s ‘Super Moon’ where the moon was the closest it had been to the Earth in a very many years (I am forgetting exactly how many.) There was a huge pull and download of energy received by many people (myself included) last month. I had planned to cleanse all of my crystals out in the night, and make gem elixirs, but alas, it rained. I know the energy is still there, but I didn’t want rainwater in my elixirs. So, I instead made them a few days later with prana from the Sun.

The full moon is a time to release any things you don’t want to carry over into the next cycle, it is a profound opportunity to dissolve blocks and barriers to your growth. I usually start my work with Ganesh right after the full moon because he is the ‘remover of all obstacles that get in the way of your/my highest good.’  I simply love Ganesh and call on him when I want to dissolve negativity and bad habits.

The full moon is a time to charge things. Placing something outside to capture the moonlight is potent magick. I do this with my crystals, and as I have so many, I am unable to do it with them all,  but I do choose the lucky ones I work with most frequently and leave them to rest all night under the moon rays.

To make gem elixirs, I choose the stones or crystals I want to use that will complement the work I am doing at the time. I cross check them to make sure they are not toxic. I prepare my water , gather my other materials (jars, cheesecloth, etc.) and get to putting up some powerful gem water!!! When it’s not raining (hint, hint, June moon) I will leave them out all night and either allow them to take in the prana from the next morning’s sun, or I simply bring them in in the morning.

The Full moon is also a good time to do manifesting magick. You don’t even need to get all complex about it, simply use your creative imagination, imagine what you are manifesting is already there. OR, like me, if you love to get all complex, you can stock up on candles and crystals that support your intention, you can set the intention, or re-state the intention you initially put out there on the new moon.

If I miss (forget) one of the full moons, I chalk it up to not being in sync with Mother Nature, and I go on, trying to be more connected from that point forward. The moon doesn’t shame us, only humans shame each other, the moon will always be there and will always be the same. The same and ever changing, that is her beauty.

Since it is the full moon now, go find something to light on fire, whether it is a  list of habits you are releasing, or the tip of a new and beautiful candle.  Make like a flame and live as an example to others!
